7 Barnsbury Terrace is one of two properties situated in Islington North London, constructed at similar times. Combined the properties have the appearance of a ‘villa’ situated along an axis that runs towards Barnsbury Square. As such both 6 and 7 Barnsbury Terrace are visually important. It is thought that both properties were Cubitt test houses and are therefore ‘locally’ listed.

The house had fallen into disrepair and partial dilapidation with many original architectural features removed or beyond repair. The house has now been redesigned and reconstructed internally providing 5 bedrooms modern reception and family living spaces connected to a landscaped garden to the rear at basement level.

To achieve this transformation the house has been extended to the rear with a bold modern cast stone and glass addition contrasting with the historic structure and form of the existing house. Importantly from the street, the house has been restored and retains the character and appearance of the villa originally designed by Cubitt.
