PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Accommodation Campus at Hinkley Pont is one part of a suite of associated developments enabling the safe and efficient construction of the Hinkley Point C new nuclear power station in Somerset by EDF Energy. The Hinkley Point Campus is one of three proposed accommodation sites providing welfare, amenity, secure transport interchange and en-suite bedroom accommodation for each resident worker.

The buildings on each Campus are designed in response to their particular context. Those at Hinkley Point are influenced by the contrast between the natural rural landscape and the man made industrial landscape of the existing power stations along the coastline. Timber and metal is used in a vertical rhythm across the facades of the buildings with an emphasis shifting from timber to metal and continues through the glazing and cladding to the amenity buildings and structures.

All buildings are designed as light weight modular prefabricated structures providing for safe and efficient construction and removal of the Campus. The buildings are designed to meet highest current environmental standards including BREEAM and CEEQUAL rating.
