CANAWAY FLEMING ARCHITECTS
Hinkley Point C
Canaway Fleming Architects were appointed by EDF Energy PLC as lead architectural and engineering consultant to undertake a full range of design and management services for the new Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station project in Somerset, UK. The project is of international significance and highly complex in terms of both design and procurement structure.
The projects included both major logistics infrastructure termed Associated Development and on-site buildings within the nuclear ‘island’ itself. The Associated Development, essential for enabling the construction of the main reactor site, is spread across 7 different sites and comprises road and utilities and civils infrastructure, multiple building design for residential, recreation, teaching and amenities, landscaping and security, landscaping and ecological works.
Services undertaken include feasibility, concept design, masterplanning, development control, detailed design, environmental appraisal and design.
As a result of the excellent quality of services provided by Canaway Fleming, the practice has been retained by EDF Energy to oversee the quality of delivery during construction, and is commissioned to work also on the second nuclear reactor project at Sizewell C, Suffolk.
